- Followthrough is a Gmail extension that automatically tracks opens, link clicks, and replies on your outbound email, then sorts threads into two lists: Follow up (went quiet, needs a nudge) and Watching (a prospect engaged). It replaces manual follow-up tracking for sales reps and founders who don't want a full CRM.
- Followthrough is $19 per month per mailbox, billed monthly and renewing automatically until you cancel. There is one plan, and it includes unlimited tracked threads, automatic open/click/reply detection, and email support. - No. Followthrough works entirely inside Gmail and does not require a CRM. It reads your Sent mail and tracked links to determine which threads need follow-up, with no separate system to keep in sync.

- One Gmail permission, plus one that touches no mail at all. The Gmail one is https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.readonly, and it is read-only: Followthrough cannot send, delete, or change your mail — it has no permission to. The other is https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.profile, your basic Google profile, which gives no access to your mailbox at all; we read your name from it so the extension can greet you by name, and we keep nothing else it returns. Decline it and you lose the greeting, nothing more. To spot replies our backend reads your recent messages, including ones on threads you are not tracking, and immediately discards everything except the identifiers and timestamps it needs. It never stores the subject line or body of any message. The Privacy Policy is specific about this.
- Yes. Followthrough works with both personal Gmail accounts and Google Workspace accounts.
- Followthrough matches inbound mail on a tracked thread against the prospect's email address and excludes automated replies (like out-of-office messages), so only a genuine reply clears a thread from your Follow up list.
- Yes. Each team member connects their own mailbox and gets their own Follow up and Watching lists — there's nothing shared to configure, and pricing is per mailbox so teams can add reps as they grow.
- Open tracking stops working for that recipient — an image that never loads cannot report an open, and Followthrough will not invent one. Link clicks and replies are unaffected, and those are the stronger signals anyway: a click means someone engaged with what you sent, and a reply clears the thread outright. A prospect who blocks images simply shows up as silent until they click or reply.
- Tracking does, the interface does not. Followthrough is a Chrome extension, so the popup and the compose controls only appear in desktop Chrome. Mail you send from your phone on a tracked thread is still scored, and opens, clicks and replies still register — you just review your Follow up and Watching lists from your computer.
