This page explains exactly how paying for Followthrough works. It is part of our Terms of Service, and where the two say the same thing differently, this page is the more specific one.

We have tried to write it the way we would want a subscription explained to us: what it costs, when it renews, how to stop it, and when you get your money back.

1. The plan and the price

Followthrough costs US$19.00 per mailbox, per month. There is one plan. You choose how many mailboxes you are paying for when you subscribe, and you can change that number later. Prices are in United States dollars.

The price is exclusive of sales tax, VAT, GST and similar taxes. Where we are required to collect them, they are calculated and shown at checkout and added to your charge.

2. This is an automatically renewing subscription

We want this to be impossible to miss. When you subscribe, you are starting a subscription that renews by itself. Your payment method is charged US$19.00 per mailbox today, and again on the same day of each following month, until you cancel. There is no fixed commitment period and no minimum term — but there is also nothing that stops the charges except you cancelling.

We tell you this before you pay, next to the button you press to pay, and you agree to it by pressing that button. After you subscribe, Stripe emails you a receipt confirming the amount, the billing period, and a link to manage or cancel the subscription. Keep that email — it is the fastest route back to your billing settings.

3. Cancelling — and we mean it is one click

You can cancel at any time, online, by yourself, at https://billing.stripe.com/p/login/3cI7sKcpa9y58Qa8FAeIw00 — sign in with the email address you subscribed with. The same link is in your receipt email. It takes the same number of steps as subscribing did, and you do not have to email us, call anyone, sit through an offer, explain yourself, or answer a question about why you are leaving.

If you would rather we did it, email [email protected] and we will cancel it for you. That is an alternative to the online route, never a replacement for it.

What cancelling does: it stops the next charge. You keep access for the rest of the period you have already paid for, and your subscription ends at the end of that period. We do not pro-rate a partial month on cancellation, because you keep the time you bought.

Removing the extension or disconnecting your mailbox does not cancel your subscription. Those are separate actions and we would rather say so than let you discover it on a statement. Cancel in the billing portal.

4. Early access — please read this before you subscribe

Followthrough is not yet listed on the Chrome Web Store, and our Google API access is still going through Google's verification for the Gmail permission we use. While that is true, subscribing does not switch your access on automatically. We set your mailbox up by hand, normally within one business day of your payment.

If we cannot get you running — because Google's verification is still pending for the kind of account you have, because your Google Workspace administrator blocks applications like ours, or for any other reason on our side — tell us and we will refund you in full. We would rather return your money than hold it against a maybe.

5. Refunds and our money-back guarantee

Fourteen-day money-back guarantee. If you change your mind about Followthrough, email us within fourteen days of your first charge on a subscription and we will refund that charge in full — no questions asked, and you do not have to give us a reason. Asking for this refund cancels the subscription, so your access ends when we process it.

The guarantee covers the first charge on a subscription only. It does not cover a later monthly renewal, and it does not cover a charge for mailboxes you add part-way through a period. The commitments below cover those.

Beyond that first fourteen days, subscriptions are billed in advance and are generally not refundable for a period you have already used, because you had access during it. That said, we would rather resolve a problem than win an argument about one. We will refund you:

  • in full, if we cannot get your mailbox connected and working at all;
  • in full, if you were charged for a renewal you did not intend and you tell us within thirty days of that charge;
  • in full, if we charged you in error or charged you more than once for the same period;
  • on a pro-rata basis, for the unused remainder of a period, if we discontinue the Service or shut it down; and
  • wherever the law where you live gives you a refund right — those rights apply on top of this policy and nothing here reduces them.

To ask for a refund, email [email protected]. Refunds go back to the payment method you used, and how quickly they appear is up to your bank.

If something looks wrong on your statement, please email us before disputing the charge with your bank. We will almost certainly just refund it, and we can do that faster than a dispute can.

6. Changing how many mailboxes you pay for

Adding a mailbox mid-period is charged pro-rata for the remainder of that period, and the full amount from the next one. Removing one also takes effect straight away, and we credit you for the unused part of the period you had already paid for. That credit comes off your next invoice.

7. If a payment fails

Cards expire and banks decline things. If a charge fails we will retry it over the following days and email you about it. If it still has not gone through after we have tried and told you, we may suspend your access until it does, and cancel the subscription if it stays unpaid. We are not going to send you to a debt collector over a $19 subscription.

You can fix a failed payment yourself by updating your card in the billing portal.

8. Price changes

If we change the price of your subscription, we will email you at least thirty days before the change takes effect, and we will say clearly what the new price is and when the first charge at that price will be. If you do not want to pay it, cancel before that date and you never will. We will not change the price of a period you have already paid for.

9. Fair use

There is no cap on how many conversations you can track — "unlimited" means what it says, and today there is no counter in our system enforcing anything else. We reserve the right to contact you if a single mailbox's usage is so far outside normal that it threatens the service for everyone else, and to agree a sensible arrangement with you. We will talk to you before we do anything about it.

10. Your card details

Payments are handled by Stripe on Stripe's own hosted checkout page. Your card number is entered on Stripe's page, not ours. It does not pass through our servers and we never see it or store it. What we can see in Stripe's dashboard is the ordinary record of a customer: your name, your email address, your billing address, the last four digits and brand of your card, and your payment history. Our Privacy Policy and Subprocessors page cover this.

11. Taxes

Where we are required to collect sales tax, VAT or GST, it is calculated at checkout based on the billing address you give us and added to the price. If you are a business that is exempt or that accounts for the tax itself, give us your registration number and we will apply it. You are responsible for any taxes on your side that we are not required to collect.
